We have inline skating tomorrow! 

If your child has no socks they CANNOT skate.  

Please remember to send your child to school dressed appropriately for skating, that means they NEED: socks, NO long dresses as they can get caught in the wheels, and they can bring their helmet or they can rent, but bringing their own is better as it reduces the lice risk.

In the following weeks we will be learning about a community in the past. There are a few items we will be using. Please look around your house to see if you have any to donate:

- toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls

- small paper plates are also welcome!

 Tomorrow is our community walk. 

Please dress for the weather. Bring a hat if you need one. Bring a sweater/coat if it is cold. 

We will be walking at 10:00 am. We will eat a small snack before we go and a small snack when we come back. 

Come prepared to walk!

Our Walking Field Trip is this Thursday May 25, we are still looking for a few more volunteers, please check the sign up genius to sign up, BUT please make sure you have a valid police clearance in order to volunteer.

 Next week is the last week of library so you need to return your books!

Next week is our Community Walk- Thursday May 25! Dress appropriately for the weather. We are going in the morning from 10-11:30. 

Next week we have in line skating ON TUESDAY you should wear comfortable clothes, and bring your helmet.

Aline in-Line Skating

Please bring back your signed in-line skating form. We are missing two students forms!

Our FIRST skating day is Tuesday May 23 right after lunch!

This is what we did today. We had to have indoor recess due to the smoke.

Lunch Problems

 Hola Grade 2 Families, 

We have had some problems at lunch time. Students are throwing away their food because they do not want to eat it, or think it is bad (ie. a cheese string was a bit smooshed). If you could please talk to your child about NOT wasting food and making sure that they bring home uneaten food rather than throw it out. 

Another reminder, please talk to your child about sharing food. At Dalhousie school we are not permitted to share food at snack or lunch due to allergies. Children should not be sharing food. They should eat their own. 

Alien In-Line Skating Volunteers

 

Alien In-line Skating will be teaching our students all kinds of fun new skills in the coming weeks. We would love to have some volunteers come in to help our younger students get in an out of their skates. If you are available please sign-up using Sign-up Genius. 

Please ensure your Police Clearance has been shared with Dalhousie School prior to your volunteer shift.

Please return the Alien In-Line Skating form so your child may participate. If you need another copy, please check the email sent yesterday for a digital copy. 

We have library tomorrow. 

Our Learning this week:

ELA: we are writing our stuck stories, this week we are finishing our rough drafts and getting our classmates to help edit them. 

SLA: We are working on our menus and we will be having conversations about food, when we eat certain foods, our preferred foods and food we do not like (IN SPANISH!)

Math: We are working on reading, understanding and solving math word problems with 2-3 digit addition and subtraction. We will work towards writing our own. 

Science: We continue our learning about insects- their life cycles, food webs, how they defend and attack, and we will work towards a research about an insect. 

Thursday May 4
