Friday April 28

Reminder:

No school Friday next week (May 5), it is a PD day. 

Reminder to dress appropriately for the weather, as it changes. Please return any overdue library books. 


Our Learning:

ELA: We are working on writing our stuck stories rough copies. Then we will edit them for mistakes and write a good copy.

SLA: We are working on talking about food in Spanish, describing when we eat specific food, how often we eat them, etc. 

Math: reviewing 2 and 3 digit addition and subtraction. Such as: 25+36  or 61-28 or 327+458 or 422-219

Science: Small crawling and flying animals: we are learning about insects, and we have started our own compost worm bin. 

Gym: this was our last week of gymnastics, next week we begin something new!

Friday April 21

 Our Learning:

Gym: We are continuing our movement unit next week, make sure you are dressed appropriately (hair tied back, no jewellery, no dresses or skirts. 

ELA: We are working on stuck stories, writing our own! So far we have worked on the problem and the main character. This is an example of a stuck story:


SLA: We are working on la comida/ food. 

Math: We are working on 3D shapes, learning the attributes (number of edges, corners, faces), and the names of the shapes. 



Science: We are learning about insects and arachnids and other types of small crawling or flying animals. So far we have talked about the body parts, characteristics of insects, and what we wonder about them.

***FAMILY FIESTA***

Family Fiesta will be returning to Dalhousie this June! We are searching for donations for our silent auction, so if you know of any businesses or individuals who would like to donate, please contact us at dalhousieschoolparentsociety@gmail.com

We will be needing lots of volunteers to help out on the day of fiesta, so please watch out for the sign up genius link as we get closer to the date!

Tomorrow is Library Day- return your books! 

Yearbook: Deadline to purchase a yearbook is Friday, April 28. The cost is $21. If you want to purchase additional books per student, please contact the office Dalhousie@cbe.ab.ca  It is an optional purchase and can be paid for through your MyCBE account.

 

With the change in weather conditions, please ensure that your child is appropriately dressed for the weather and any changes in weather.  Additionally, please send an extra change of clothes with your child to school to be kept in their backpack.  This should include a top, a bottom, change of socks and underwear.  Recess and lunch is a great opportunity for fun and play in the snow and slush, resulting in wet clothing. The office has a very limited supply of clothes.  Thank you for helping us keeping your child happy and dry.

 

We are so excited to have parent volunteers back in the classrooms! Please ensure your police clearance has been correctly uploaded prior to signing up for one of the many volunteer opportunities. If you are unsure of your status please reach out to our lovely office team who will be more than happy to assist you with this process.

Dress appropriately for the movement unit- stretchy pants, no dresses, no skirts, bare-feet, no dangly earrings, hair tied back. 


Next Friday is Earth Day- come dressed in blue and green.

 Reminders:

Tomorrow is library day- please bring back your books. Any books that are very overdue, or lost, will be charged to your powerschool account to be paid for by the end of the year. Please check for them and bring them back if you have any very overdue books. 

Our Learning: 

ELA: Stuck stories and adding adjectives. 

SLA: La comida/ food vocabulary

Math: place value, skip counting up to 1000! Adding and Subtracting with 100. 

Science: Building our boats

Gym: we are doing our movement/ gymnastics unit- please make sure to come dressed appropriately- no jewellery or watches, hair tied back, stretchy clothes, no skirts or dresses please.

Thurs April 6

A reminder that there is no school tomorrow, Friday, April 7 and Monday, April 10. We look forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday, April 11.

Our next parent Society meeting is on April 12 via Teams. Everyone is welcome. We hope to see you there!  Link and password will be sent out to parents on Wednesday morning. 

Our movement unit will start on April 11. Please see the separate email sent out regarding appropriate clothing and safety precautions.


Our Learning This Week:

ELA: We are learning about Stuck Stories. Ask your child about "Andrew's Loose Tooth"- the stuck story we read in class. 

SLA: We are learning about comida (food) vocabulary. 

Math: We are working on skip counting anywhere between 0-1000, such as 352-354-356-358-360

Science- We are building our boats to finish off our boats and buoyancy unit.
