Thursday Sept. 29

Reminder tomorrow there is no school because it is Orange Shirt Day (Truth and Reconciliation).

This story is about Shi-Ski-Etko, about an Indigenous girl before she went to residential school, and her memory bag that she made. We made memory bags today as well.

This is a video about Orange Shirt Day:

We experimented with iron filings and saw how they were attracted to the magnet. You can test this at home with some cereal that has iron in it, is it attracted to the magnet?

Next week we are starting our Magnet Project and building a magnetic game, if you have things at home you would like to donate to help us build our games you can bring them next week. Like:
-tinfoil
-cans
-recycling (cardboard)
-straws
-magnets

First Two Days of Grade 2!

Welcome back everyone!

Today we got to know each other a little better with an "All About Me Bag", so today students were sent home with a brown paper bag with the note explaining what to do on it. Students should choose 3 things that tell about them to put in their bag (like pictures/ drawings of their family, favorite toy, book). We will share these bags next week with the class.

Make sure whatever you bring is not too special as there is always a chance it might get lost, if its too important, take a picture of it instead!

We had a great first few days of school! We loved:

  • read to self time
  • our name pattern art
  • recess
  • meeting our new and old friends
  • our teacher is very kind

We are looking forward to:
  • finding out what is in the boxes in the classroom!
  • making some book marks for reading
  • doing some REAL math :)
Can't wait to see you on Tuesday, have a great long weekend!
